Helgeland Miljøfisk announces appeal against the rejection from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority in Nordland

- "We're reviewing the rejection thoroughly now and will of course appeal the decision, not least for the sake of the 300 jobs that could be created and the tax revenue for the local community. When the appeal is ready, we will of course publicise it immediately," says Sten Roald Lorentzen.

Helgeland Miljøfisk has already identified several of the points in the Norwegian Food Safety Authority's rejection as manageable.
This includes the requirement for a distance of 5 kilometres to nearby fish farming sites.

- When it comes to the Lismåsøy site, we've looked at various solutions and concluded that the best is to move the outlet further south, so that we achieve the requirement of 5km distance between the sites," says Lorentzen.

Unchanged progress

- "We haven't made any changes to the progress, we're now in the interaction phase with contractors and consulting engineers while the case is being processed, and we're confident that this can be solved by adapting the facility," Lorentzen concludes.

Aquaculture Innovation states that the complaint will be published as soon as it is ready. The deadline for appeals is 11 January.
