Norwegian Aquaculture Centre's display licence extended
The Norwegian Aquaculture Centre has today received an important clarification from the Directorate of Fisheries that the display permit has been extended until 18 December 2030. "This was a really great Christmas present! It's especially good to get this now since we've been waiting for almost two years.
"This is an important clarification that gives us much better predictability in our operations. "We have an important social mission to communicate facts about aquaculture, both the history and the innovations. It's about building knowledge about the industry for the population and tourists, and it's also about building our reputation. A viewing centre should contribute to legitimacy, acceptance and openness. The combination of aquaculture, display activities and tourism has great potential.
The Norwegian Aquaculture Centre was one of the first companies to receive a permit to produce salmon for display purposes in 2006. The activity means a lot for local jobs. We also have an agreement with Hurtigruten and Havila that increases tourist activity. Helgeland is located in the centre of one of the world's largest regions for salmon production and there is great interest in the aquaculture industry in Norway.
