In 2021, 3,322 tonnes of salmon were produced on the Group's licences.

Torghatten Aqua delivered a profit after tax of NOK 180.7 million in 2021, the best in the company's 25-year history, the company writes in a press release. The result is an increase of NOK 65 million from 2020, when the result was NOK 115.6 million.

No dividend was paid, but the entire profit for the year was transferred to the company's equity, as part of the company's growth plans.

- We are very pleased with the result, which positions the company very well for the ambitious and concrete plans the group has, both through the school initiative in Campus BLÅ and land-based aquaculture in Aquaculture Innovation," says Executive Chairman Frode Blakstad in the press release.

Three focus areas

Torghatten Aqua AS is the former "family company" Torgnes AS, where the ownership structure was opened up to employees, the local community and other investors. 90 per cent of the employees took up the invitation to become shareholders. During the autumn, the local community and other investors will be invited to join in further developing the company.

Torghatten Aqua AS has taken over 100 per cent of the shares in Campus Blå Norsk Havbrukssenter AS and merged into this company. The main business today consists of three focus areas within the blue sector:

  • Campus BLÅ with programmes in the blue sector.
  • Norwegian Aquaculture Centre with salmon farming co-located with SinkabergHansen, exhibition facilities and tourism.
  • Aquaculture Innovation, which is planned land-based farming/large smolt, through Helgeland Miljøfisk, Bulandet Miljøfisk and Vevelstad Settefisk.

In 2021, 3,322 tonnes of salmon were produced on the Group's licences. The company also has investments in other business activities, and a significant part of the profit in recent years has come from these investments, the company writes in the press release.

Even though the tourism business was heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in both 2020 and 2021, the company has seen an increase in visitor numbers and had just over 32,000 visitors in 2021, the company writes.
