Success for Campus BLÅ Fagskole
After just six months, the Campus BLÅ study programme "Aquaculture Operations Manager" can already be characterised as a success. The first cohort of 15 students started in the autumn, and the second cohort is well underway, with 17 students. The students take a two-year part-time programme based on e-learning and four sessions during their studies.
The students come from Bergen in the south to Alta in the north, and they have a lot of good things to say about the programme: -Good content with lecturers who know their stuff. Very pleasant teachers who are good at teaching. Good programme and nice people.
Great programme
The youngest of all is 21-year-old Elisabeth Andrea Sandvær Benjaminsen. She's an apprentice at Fish Care Solutions, and works two weeks on and two weeks off. One of the things she likes best about the programme is the combination of physical sessions and e-learning. "After each course, students have to take a skills test: - "It's a great programme, as this test is also a nice summary. "The teachers I've met so far are really good," she says. Elisabeth also says that she is surprised at how flexible the programme is: - "It's easy to combine with a full-time job, which means I can definitely recommend it to others," she emphasises. Her goal is to eventually hold a leading position in aquaculture, so this programme is a step along the way," says Elisabeth Andrea Sandvær Benjaminsen.
Great search
"The vocational school programme is a higher vocational education, and the newly launched vocational school at Campus BLÅ aims to train good business managers for an important export industry," says Rector John Arne Andersen: -"The students give us very good feedback, and there is a large number of applications for the programme. Already in February, we received applications for the autumn programme without advertising. This shows that the programme is sought after by both students and the industry. After all, we're educating the next generation of business managers," says an enthusiastic principal at Campus BLÅ Fagskole.
60 credits
The "Aquaculture Operations Manager" programme covers topics such as management and organisation, communication, logistics, fish welfare and fish health, environmental challenges, feed, finance, technology and laws and regulations. According to the plan, the vocational school will have around 64 students per year on the programme from 2025. The programme provides a vocational school degree with 60 credits and students can receive support from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund.
